Jitka Palmer.
About Jitka.
Jitka Palmer was born in Prague in 1959 and spent much of her early life in the Czech Republic before moving to the UK. Her work includes sculpture, vessels, sketches and paintings.
She has a life-long interest and ardour for the human form and her incredible knowledge and insight into the human body is derived from a degree in medicine and an initial career teaching anatomy. In the mid eighties Jitka tipped the balance of her work, making art and design the main focus of her career yet always drawing on her medical and anatomical experience, both in her work and in teaching anatomy and morphology to fellow artists.
Jitka draws inspiration from watching people, their body language and their facial expressions with music, dance, theatre and poetry providing important source material. She is always on the lookout for those special, unique, and often spontaneous moments that occur in all human activity; her work beautifully reflects both the physical characteristics and emotional mindset of her subjects and has a natural flow and energy.
Jitka is currently based in the South West and has exhibited her work across the world. We are delighted to be displaying her ceramic vessels.
